Parenting Strong-Willed Children

Parenting isn’t easy, especially if you're parenting strong-willed children.

Do you have a child that you feel is trying to conquer the world? If you have a strong-willed child you have probably had others look at you with an attitude that says, "you don't know how to raise your children." Either they don't have kids, or they were one of the few lucky ones who has a "compliant" child.

I've been there myself and I know how hard it is. And why do we, as the parent, feel a total failure? The fact is, some kids are just easier than others. Some are born strong-willed and this makes it exhaustingly hard for us to cope with. So what can we do?

One thing I know for sure is that dropping the child off at the psychologist and say 'fix him/her' is not the answer. We can help as a family but we need some good advice.

There are lots of ways that we can help our child to be well-behaved. This will not only make life easier for us but, more importantly, it will help them make a success of their own life.

We can do things such as:-

  • Communicate
  • Support
  • Discipline
  • Get involved in their life.
  • Praise
  • Positive Reinforcement
  • Be honest
  • Be consistent
  • Listen
  • Encourage
  • Celebrate their every achievement

All this sounds a bit airy-fairy but it does work! What we need, though, are some hard and fast strategies. We need instructions on what to do, what to say and when.

Click here for some really great advice. I love this site. It’s simple, to-the-point and easy to follow.

Happy parenting strong-willed children!
